When we think about it, Skagway exists because people came here with their dreams. They were dreams of gold which have gone down in history as "the world's last great adventure."

But the spirit of adventure didn't die with the Klondike Gold Rush. Meet Ron and Maggie Boughton, owners of The Chowder House. Their dream is to buy a blue water yacht and sail around the world.

To fuel their dream, during radio station KHNS' recent annual fundraiser, Ron successfully bid for six DVDs of Barry and Corinne Smedley's world travel adventures. When asked what had prompted his selection, Ron replied, "Because I want to go to the places that Barry and Corinne have visited on our world cruise."

Out of a collection of some 30 titles, covering 25 years of world travel, Ron chose Australia, New Zealand, South America, Fiji, Tonga, Solomon Islands.

The Boughtons own and operate The Chowder House in the Skagway Bazaar on Broadway between 5th and 6th Avenues. The house specialty is salmon chowder, as well as freshly baked goods, sandwiches made to order & drinks.
