SEARHC announces summer/fall 2007 mobile mammograms
SITKA - The SEARHC Breast and Cervical Health Program has announced the tentative late summer and fall 2007 schedule for the Bartlett Regional Hospital's mobile mammogram program.

The mobile mammography van will visit Hoonah, Haines, Skagway, Prince of Wales Island and Metlakatla during the late summer and fall.

The schedule is tentative, but hopefully will not change, program director Roz DeRensis said.

The van is scheduled to visit Hoonah on Aug. 21-24, Haines on Sept. 4-13, Skagway on Sept. 17-19, Klawock on Sept. 26-28, Craig on Oct. 1-3, Klawock again on Oct. 4-12, and Metlakatla on Oct. 19-24.

The mobile mammography program is run through a partnership between Bartlett Regional Hospital and the SEARHC Breast and Cervical Health Program.

It makes regular mammography services available to women who live in communities where they aren't available year round.

"Each year, the mobile mammography van provides mammograms for more than 550 women who might not otherwise receive this service," DeRensis said. "Regular mammograms are an important part of being a healthy woman."

The SEARHC Breast and Cervical Health Program provides free clinical breast exams and mammograms for all women ages 40-64 who meet income and insurance guidelines.
