Thursday

Fair hours: noon to 8:00 p.m.

Zucchini Contest

Let your zucchini show its cartoon character best. Entries will be judged and entrants will earn free entry to the Fair! Preschoolers to eighth graders can join the fun. Be sure to have your zucchini in by 2 pm on Thursday, July 24.

Noon - 6:00 p.m. Children's Carnival in McPherson Barn.

Carnival games and prizes, fortune teller, face painting, music, petting zoo.

7:30 a.m. Haines Hustle registration. Registration forms available around town.

8:00 a.m. Haines Hustle Fun Run begins. 5K & 10K distances. Walkers and strollers welcome. No dogs, please. Great prizes to top winners. Lots of giveaways. Preregistration $10. Day of race $12.

10:00 a.m. Most Loveable Dog competition

Think you have the cutest, most loveable dog? Or maybe he/she has the shortest tail? Then bring your leashed pal to the Fire Station at 10 a.m. for registration in the 14th Annual Most Loveable Dog Contest. You can show off your loveable dog while you both march in the parade, & maybe win a prize! Thanks to organizers Carrie Kinison and Linda Anderson.

11:00 a.m. Grand Parade:

Lots of divisions to enter with prizes for the best entry. The theme for this year is "Celebrating 40 Fairs." Put on your creative hat - originality and theme interpretation has its rewards. Thank you to Gina and Jerry Erny for sponsoring this time-honored tradition!

Noon Guy Hoffman Horseshoe Tournament, Men & Women's Singles.

Calling all fishermen for the Fair's second annual Fisherman's Rodeo. Come test your net mending, gear baiting, survival suit donning skills and more! Cash and gear prizes to be won. Thanks to Coeur Alaska for helping to sponsor this event.

1:00 p.m. Logging Show:

Men's and Women's Events. This annual competition brings everybody out of the woods! Events for both guys and gals. Sharpen that axe

for the axe-throwing, and fine tune your favorite saw for bucking competitions. Thank you to Oleruds, Inc., Lynn View Lodge and The Great Alaskan Lumberjack Show for sponsoring this event.
