Klein chosen for energy, air service task force
JUNEAU - Department of Transportation and Public Facilities Deputy Commissioner of Aviation, Christine Klein, has been named to the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) Energy/Air Service Task Force.

In addition to serving as a deputy commissioner overseeing 258 state airports, Klein is also handling the airport director duties at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport.

AAAE created the task force to explore approaches that airports can take to address the rapidly changing air service landscape that is occurring, because of dramatically higher fuel prices. The task force will work to develop industry consensus recommendations for a national energy policy and a potential national air service policy. More than 80 airport executives representing airports of all sizes from all parts of the country are involved with the task force.

"With about 82 percent of our communities completely dependent on aviation for supplies, food, health care and travel in Alaska, aviation is essential to Alaska's economy, safety, and rural survival," said Klein. Klein is an accredited airport executive who has also served on national committees for AAAE and the Airports Council International achieving success at uniting parties on aviation-related topics.

The AAAE was founded in 1928 and is the world's largest professional organization representing the men and women who work at public-use commercial and general aviation airports.
