Investigation ongoing in innertube collision death

JUNEAU - Officers and detectives of the Juneau Police Department are still in the process of identifying and interviewing witnesses. JPD asks anyone who may have seen the collision or who may have video or photographs to contact JPD at 586 -0600.

The investigation is still in its early stages and all of JPD's findings are preliminary and subject to change as more information becomes available.

Current interviews and physical evidence show that the two girls were lying on a tube being towed by a jet ski at the time of the collision. The tube struck the starboard side of another jet ski, which at the time, was going at a slow rate of speed. One of the riders sustained a fatal head injury and the other rider sustained injuries to her head and arm. Both jet skis, along with the tube and tow rope, are in police custody.

The Juneau Police Department would like to thank the Alaska State Troopers and the Coast Guard for their invaluable help during this investigation. Again, JPD is also seeking witnesses to the collision and would like to speak with anyone who saw the collision.
