CBJ July 4 road closures

City Hall and most CBJ Offices will be closed Wednesday, July 4. Regular office hours will resume on Thursday, July 5.

July 3 Douglas Soapbox Derby: The Soapbox Challenge will take place on both the 3rd and 4th of July. Starting July 3rd at noon, St. Ann's Avenue from Summers Street to 3rd Street will be closed to vehicular traffic. The road will remain closed to traffic until approximately 6pm on July 4th. During this time, the road will be barricaded on both edges of St. Ann's. Any vehicle parked on St. Ann's Ave. from Summers Street to 3rd Street during this closure will be cited and impounded at the owner's expense. The Douglas Boat Harbor parking lot will be available for parking.

July 4 Juneau Parade: The Juneau parade will begin at 11am at the Dept. of Labor building on West 8th Street. The parade route is as follows:

The parade will begin at Egan Drive and West 8th Street. It will travel inbound on Egan Drive via the outbound lanes to Main Street. It will turn left and travel up Main St. The parade will then turn right onto Front Street and continue on Front Street traveling against the normal flow of traffic. It will turn right onto Franklin Street and travel against the normal flow of traffic to the traffic circle. The parade will then head outbound on Egan Dr. via the inbound lanes to West 8th.

Douglas Parade: The Douglas parade will start at 2 p.m. The parade route is from 3rd Street at I Street to St. Ann's Avenue at A Street. 3rd Street will be posted "No Parking" from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Any vehicles parked on the parade route will be impounded at the owner's expense, and vehicles will not be available for pick up until Thursday, July 5th. The Juneau Police Department will begin impounding vehicles at 8:30 a.m. on the morning of July 4th.
