Juneau Gun Club places at PITA

Six members of the Juneau Gun Club went north to Fairbanks from June 6-10 to participate in the 2012 Pacific International Trap Association, Alaska and Yukon Territory Regional Championship.

On June 6 three preliminary events were held. Thursday through Sunday the main events were conducted. On Thursday and Friday, three events were held, 100 singles; 100 handicap and 50 pair of doubles. On Saturday, 200 single targets is the main event, while on Sunday, 100 handicap targets and 50 pair of double targets is the tournament wrap-up.

Awards are made according to PITA classifications in AA;A;B;C and D classes; Hi Lady; Hi Junior; Veteran (65 to 69 years young) and Senior Veteran (70 and beyond).

All Juneau participants were winners in each of the 12 events.

Event 2, Handicap, 26 Entries; Mal Menzies, 19-22 yard winner (92/100).

Event 3, 50 pair Doubles, 25 Entries; Jay Davis, B winner (93/100); Mal Menzies, D winner (80/100).

Event 11, AK State Doubles Championship, 37 Entries; Jay Davis, B winner (93/100); Dennis Travis, C winner (82/100); Mal Menzies, D winner (86/100).

Event 12, AK State Handicap Championship, 40 Entries; Wm "Bud" Burnett, 19-22 yd winner (88/100); Mal Menzies, Sr. vet winner (87/100).

High All Around (Last 400 Targets); Mal Menzies, A winner (366/100); Jay Davis, Sr. vet winner (371/400).

In addition to the above honors, JGC members Jay Davis, Wm. "Bud" Burnett, Hank Masters and Ken Pearson were named to the PITA-Alaska / Yukon, High-Over -Alls for 2011.

The 2012 Alaska PITA "All Star" Teams (based on 2011 averages) included the following Juneau Gun Club members;

Open Second Team, Pete Hudson, Captain and Jay Davis.
