Juneau artist Monica O'Keefe will show landscapes at the Silverbow Backroom during the month of July. An opening reception will be from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Friday, July 6.

Juneau artist Monica O'Keefe will show landscapes at the Silverbow Backroom during the month of July. An opening reception will be from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Friday, July 6. Shown above is O'Keefe's painting, Eagle Glacier.
Paintings are two dimensional images which attempt to represent a three dimensional world, and it is air that fills that three dimensional space between the tangible objects. The air, whether clear or misty or cloudy, filters the sunlight that colors the land, sky, and sea. The resultant pale gray and dark green tones often found in Alaska hint at the colors hidden by the atmosphere. Maybe a painting can show those colors if one imagines the open air out there.

This show includes original watercolor, gouache, and acrylic paintings, as well as limited edition giclee prints.
