Registration opens at 1 p.m. and the free five-kilometer fun walk around the fort for the whole family starts at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 6, at the Fort William H. Seward flagpole. This is a good way to burn off some of those extra calories from the Commander's Sunday Breakfast earlier in the day, and it's a good way to train for the 5K and 10K walk/run events on July 26 at the Southeast Alaska State Fair. Feel free to walk as individuals or with a group. A drawing for door prizes takes place after the walk.
The Teddy Roosevelt's March event is sponsored by the SEARHC WISEWOMAN and Breast and Cervical Health programs. For additional information, contact Pam Sloper, RN, by phone at 766-6367 or by e-mail at email@example.com.
Fort Seward Days is a two-day celebration of the 50th anniversary of Alaska's statehood that takes place July 5-6 at the Fort William H. Seward National Historic Landmark in Haines. Sen. Ted Stevens is scheduled as the special guest.
