The Douglas Community United Methodist Church will hold their Annual Deep Pit Beef Bar-B-Que Fundraiser on Friday, July 4th from 12)-4pm. Prices for meals are: $12 Adults & youth, age 12 and over; $8 for Children 5-11; children 4 and under are free. BBQ Sandwich & Chips sack lunches are $6. Proceeds help fund the church's many programs. The church is located on the corner of 3rd & E Streets in Douglas.

The Widowed Persons Monthly Brunch is on Sunday, July 6 in the Nugget Room at the Baranof Hotel. All widows and widowers are invited to attend this event.

There will be a gathering of long time friends of Katie Hurley, grand marshal of this year's 4th of July parade, on July 5 at the Parkshore Condo Reception Hall from 2:30 to 6:30. Bring a dish and join in honoring Katie and welcoming her back to Juneau for a visit.

The Ocean Survey Vessel BOLD is hosting an Open House when it docks in Juneau on Wednesday, July 2, from noon to 5:30 PM, at the U.S. Coast Guard Station Juneau Pier.

Pre-Fireworks Barn Dance on Thursday, July 3rd. Music starts at 7:30 p.m. at Centennial Hall. Live music with the Grateful Celtics and dance caller Odette Foster. Great way to make sure you're downtown for the fireworks. Instruction for all dances. Beginners welcome. No partners necessary. Bring clean, soft-soled shoes for dancing. Cost: $8 public, $7 members of the Alaska Folk Festival and Juneau International Folk Dancers, $5 seniors and students. Call: 321-3109.
