A new Filipino restaurant named Turo-Turo Lutong Pinoy opened June 23 at 116 Franklin St. in downtown Juneau. By the next day at lunch, the restaurant was packed with locals, cruise ship workers and tourists lining up to "turo-turo," or point, at the dishes like pancit, chicken adobo and talapia.
The five co-owners are Lito Lumbab, Rey Beltran, Danny Capata, J.R. Camba, and Joemer Gonzalez. They had been talking about opening a restaurant together for a while. "We'd been looking for a location," Lumbab said. "When we found one we called each other, grouped up and went for it."
