On parade
Know where to go and park for Juneau and Douglas routes

The downtown Juneau parade will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 4, at the Department of Labor building on West 8th Street. The parade route will go on Egan Drive southbound from West 8th to the traffic circle on South Franklin near the downtown parking garage. The parade will turn left onto South Franklin Street, turn left onto Front Street, turn left onto Main Street and finally turn right onto Egan Drive.

The parade will end at West 8th Street. Parade participants taking part in the Douglas parade will continue across the Juneau-Douglas bridge and into Douglas.

The Juneau Police Department will be closing all of the above referenced streets to vehicular traffic starting at about 10:30 a.m. All listed streets will be posted "No Parking."

Any vehicles parked on the parade route will be impounded at the owner's expense, and vehicles will be unavailable for pick up until July 5. The JPD will begin impounding vehicles at 8:30 a.m. on the morning of July 4.

Due to the large volume of July 4 foot traffic, the streets surrounding the parade route become very congested. For the safety of those participating and watching the parade, all traffic will be held until the parade is complete and has passed the 10th Street and Egan Drive intersection.

All streets and parking lots within the parade route boundary also will be close to vehicular traffic during this time.

During this period of time traffic will be routed into Douglas on 4th Street and out of Douglas on 2nd Street. To accommodate this, 2nd Street will be posted as One Way northbound, and 4th Street will be posted as One Way southbound. Both 2nd and 3rd Streets will be posted as "No Parking." Any vehicle parked on the above-listed streets will be cited and impounded at the owner's expense. The Douglas boat harbor parking lot will be available for parking.
