United Fishermen of Alaska announce new board appointments
Effective June 15, 2008, United Fishermen of Alaska (UFA) will seat new officers Charles Treinen as Vice President, and Rich Davis as Secretary. Joe Childers will continue to fill as president for his second year term.

Roland Maw joins the UFA Executive Committee as Administrative Committee Chair and Paul Shadura as an at-large member. UFA's Executive Committee is comprised of the organization's officers and committee chairs and an at-large elected seat, and serve one year terms from June 15 to June 14, 2009. Officer elections were held during UFA's February meeting.

Charles (Chip) Treinen fishes Bristol Bay salmon drift net and herring and salmon seine in Southeast and Kodiak waters, and serves on the UFA Board as an At-large delegate elected by UFA's individual fishermen members.

"I look forward to supporting UFA's role and evolution as an advocate for commercial fishermen, fisheries and fish throughout the state," said Treinen.

Rich Davis fishes for salmon, halibut, sablefish and lingcod in Southeast Alaska and represents Seafood Producer's Cooperative on the UFA board. Davis served as UFA President in 1998 and1999.

Roland Maw, representing United Cook Inlet Drift Association, replaces Rob Zuanich as Admin Committee chair. Paul Shadura, representing kenai Peninsula Fishermen's Association was elected to the at-large seat formerly held by Treinen. Other committee leadership positions remain the same.

United Fishermen of Alaska is the largest statewide commercial fishing trade association, representing 37 commercial fishing organizations participating in fisheries throughout the state and its offshore waters. The next UFA meeting will be held September 24 - 26, 2008 at the Westmark Hotel in Anchorage.
