JDHS alum earns air traffic degree with honors

Juneau-Douglas High School alumni Alton Joseph Anderson graduated recently from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Fla. Receiving a Bachelor of Science in Air Traffic Management, Anderson was one of only 15 out of 800 in his class to qualify Summa Cum Laude.

Anderson is the son of the late Donna Anderson of Juneau, and was joined at his graduation by aunts, uncles, and his Juneau family. He is back in Juneau managing the Silverbow Inn and Bakery for the summer before returning to Embry-Riddle to pursue his Master's degree in the fall. He has been elected Student Government treasurer for the next year, and then expects to begin work for the Federal Aviation Administration as an air traffic controller.
