Dear CCW:
Alaskans spoke overwhelmingly in favor of medical marijuana by passing the Alaska's medical marijuana law, and that law still stands in our state.

Suspending Alaska's medical marijuana program is not only heartless ... it violates Alaska law and the will of Alaskans, who solidly passed medical marijuana in 1998.

In Alaska, taking medical marijuana medicine on the recommendation of a doctor for a legitimate illness is not a crime -- nor should it be.

Seriously ill Alaskans should not have to wait for Attorney General David Marquez to figure out that the state law is unchanged by the Raich decision.

The U.S. Supreme Court ruling in Gonzales v. Raich does not overturn the medical marijuana laws on the books in 10 states, and any attempt by Alaska officials to subvert the state's existing medical marijuana program is unwarranted.
