CBJ to increase school zone safety
As a result of a grant from the Alaska Highway Safety Office, CBJ Streets Superintendent Michael Scott hopes Juneau kids will travel more safely to school this fall.

The grant will finance two new radar display signs that will be erected in school zones to caution and slow drivers. The signs willl display speed in numeric form so drivers will be aware of their actual speed.

The signs will also be part of a study to determine their effectiveness, and results will be posted on the CBJ Streets website.

Initially the radar display will be rotated among these selected school zones: Mendenhall Loop Road at Stephen Richards; Tongass Blvd. at Glacier Valley Elementary; Glacier Highway in front of Harbor View Elementary & JDHS; Riverside Drive at Riverbend Elementary and Douglas Highway at Gastineau Elementary.
