Miss Shima died June 9 of injured sustained in an auto accident in Juneau.
She was born Sept. 17, 1978, to Noel and Irene Shima in Northfield, Minn. She moved to Juneau with her parents and her brother, Jason Shima, in 1983. She was a 1997 graduate of Juneau-Douglas High School. After graduation, Ann spent a year traveling with friends before attending college. She was a 2004 graduate of the University of Hawaii, earning a bachelor's degree in history and social studies. She recently moved back to Juneau where she worked for Alaska Travel Adventures.
Anne was preceded in death by her mother, Irene, last year.
Survivors include her father, Noel, of Juneau, and her brother, Jason, of Eugene, Ore., as well as a maternal grandmother, Dorothy Galivan, of Oak Harbor, Wash.; a paternal grandfather, John Shima Jr., of Hastings, Minn.; uncles and aunts John and Martha Shima, Jeff and Leona Shima, and Roger and Lee Kolden, as well as numerous cousins.
