Juneauites celebrated Arbor Day May 30 at Cope Park by planting red maples, vine maples and perennials such as astilbe and spirea. Deputy Mayor Randy Wannamaker read the Arbor Day proclamation, encouraging the planting of and caring for trees. The event was attended by representatives from the Juneau Urban Forestry Partnership, Parks and Recreation, the Juneau Fire Department, the U.S. Forest Service, the Society of American Foresters, a Gold Creek day care group and other community members.
