Calvin Jordan Jr., 10, is a fifth-grader in Cinda Stanek's class at Gastineau Community School. He is the son of Calvin and Tonette Jordan. He said he enjoys his school because of the teachers. "You can get to know them really well here," Calvin said. "They are very nice and humble." He enjoys playing soccer and participating in the school's book club. He said he likes the book is "Matilda" because it is an example of how adults should treat children with respect. "I really think it's good. Kids need to be listened to more and should have more say in stuff," he said. His favorite subjects are science, math and art, and he wants to someday be a scientist. "I want to help fight certain diseases like cancer and AIDS and to find cures," Calvin said.
