Speakingout
Thank you Juneau and Douglas! Your city and rural mail carriers collected more than last year's amount of food, giving our local food banks a total of 5,981 pounds of food. This one-day food drive is the largest in the world, where all mail carriers across this wonderful country of ours collect food for their communities. Our local food banks that you donated to were the Southeast Alaska Food Bank and the Helping Hands Food Bank. They are both very thankful for your support in this year's NALC Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive on May 9. Now, after a good shoulder rub down and 12 months of rest, your mail carrier will be gearing up for next year's Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive on the second Saturday in May. We are all hoping to break the record and go over 6,000 pounds of food. We are very grateful to all in our community who gave to help others in need of food in these hard times. Thanks again Juneau and Douglas, for helping us to make our jobs more meaningful, when we can give back to our neighbors in need.
