Juneau's high school seniors will be going "Back to the Future" at this year's graduation party sponsored by Parents for a Safe Graduation. The party begins at 9:30 p.m. on June 2 at Centennial Hall following the JDHS graduation ceremony. All 2009 graduates of JDHS, Yaakoosge Daakahidi Alternative High School and HomeBRIDGE Homeschool are invited to attend.
Lauri Wilson, chairperson of Parents for a Safe Graduation, thanked the City and Borough of Juneau, the Alaska Peace Officers Association, and Holland America for being especially supportive with financial donations for the graduation party. Businesses and organizations who would like to make a contribution of cash or a prize should contact Wilson at 209-8816 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Parents of seniors are also asked to make a $35 contribution by mailing a check to Parents for a Safe Graduation, c/o Sherry Olson, Treasurer, P.O. Box 21008, Juneau, AK 99801.
Parent volunteers are asked to help with a variety of tasks before, during and after the party and should contact volunteer coordinator Carol White at 790-2488 or email@example.com
Parents for a Safe Graduation is also sponsoring the Baccalaureate Service on May 31 at 7 p.m. at the JDHS Auditorium. All graduates of JDHS, Yaakoosge and HomeBRIDGE and their friends and family are invited to attend this non-denominational, inspirational community farewell message to graduating seniors of all faiths. Families are asked to bring cookies, fruit and finger foods to share at a reception following the ceremony.
Free shuttle buses will be provided by First Student. Those attending the JDHS graduation ceremony should park at the subport or Centennial Hall. Buses will run from Centennial Hall to JDHS from 5-7pm and from JDHS to Centennial Hall from 9-10:30pm.
