In the heart of Southeast Alaska, sea life, game and vegetation abound in our waters and forests. This bounty is part of what attracted us to Juneau - to fish and hunt and just observe nature's richness. We are proud of our local foods: we share recipes, prepare delicacies and serve fine meals of this bounty - and enjoy it immensely.
Chez Alaska Cooking School will provide the opportunity to share our resources with everyone. For 3 or 4 hours come and learn to prepare Alaskan foods the Alaskan way. Classes will cover salmon, halibut, crab, scallops, oysters, shrimp and occasionally other delicacies such as octopus, squid or abalone. At times men's specialties such as canning or smoking will be featured. Sourdough is nearly synonymous with Alaska's early settlers and will be featured at different times.
Check the web at www.chezalaska.com for the current schedule on the offerings. There are different chefs each day of the week and guest chefs will appear occasionally. Come for a great meal, a great experience, lots of fun and learn something at the same time.
