SITKA - The Cooperative Extensive Service UAF will offer classing on home fish canning and pressure canner dial gauge testing on Thursday, May 21 on the UAS Sitka Campus, 1332 Seward Ave., Room 110.
Sonja Koukel, Ph.D., with the Health, Home & Family Development Program of the Cooperative Extension Service will offer a home canning program from noon-1 p.m. The class is free and open to the public. Whether you are new to home canning or an experienced home canner looking for updated research, this program is for you.
Then, from 2-5:30, there will be a class on Pressure Canner Dial Gauge Testing, also in room 110. Need your pressure canner dial gauge tested? Bring your gauge or bring the canner lid with gauge attached. This is a free service provided through the Cooperative Extension Service.
