Don't miss the workshops!
Workshops have been a primary focus, but not a highly visible part, of the annual Juneau Jazz & Classics. Beyond the performances, professional jazz and classical artists teach local music lovers, children, bands and musicians important skills. The 2005 Festival will offer more workshops and clinics than ever before. Tuesday, May 24, the UAS campus is home to classical and jazz workshops at 7 p.m. Trout Fishing in America will hold a songwriting workshop at the Juneau Senior Center at 5pm on Wednesday, May 25 ($5 for kids 12 and under). And on Saturday, May 28, living jazz legends Paul Wertico and Larry Coryell will hold free drum and guitar clinics (Egan Library, 10 a.m.)
