Norway governor to speak in Juneau
JUNEAU - Governor Svein Ludvigsen of Troms, Norway will be in Juneau on Sunday, May 18 to speak at the Juneau Yacht Club at 5:30 pm the invitation of the Juneau World Affairs Council. The Sons of Norway Lodge will host a reception at 4:30 pm for Governor Ludvigsen prior to his speech at 4:30 pm. He will speak on the topic: "International focus on the Arctic: fisheries, environment, climate change, petroleum and conflicts between these interests."

Since 2006, Ludvigsen had been the governor of Troms in Northern part of Norway. Prior to being Governor, he was the Minister of Fisheries and Coastal Affairs and Minister of Nordic Cooperation from 2001 to 2005. Prior to being Minister he was a member of the Norwegian Parlaiment between 1989 and 2001. While he was in Parlaiment he served on the Committees for Fisheries and Shipping, Business and Industry, Vice President of the Upper House, Vice Chair of the Standing Committee on Scrutiny and Constitutional Affairs.
