This was a "mass casualty exercise" designed to test the response to an aircraft accident at the Airport. It is required every three years to maintain Federal Aviation Administration airport certification.
Juneau International Airport, Capitol City Fire Rescue, Juneau Police Department, Bartlett Regional Hospital, Juneau Douglas High School students, Boy Scouts of America Troop 6, American Red Cross, CBJ Transit, Federal Aviation Administration, Alaska Airlines, Civil Air Patrol, Alaska Defense Forces, City of Whitehorse, City of Cordova and the City of Ketchikan all participated or provided support to the exercise.
If not for the many people who volunteered their time to play the part of accident victims, as well as those who operate the various emergency responder organizations in Juneau, this exercise could not have been staged. We hope that all participants found the experience both interesting and informative.
