Riverbend students raise funds for others

Student Council members of Riverbend Community Learning Center held fundraisers to raise money for the American Red Cross to assist the 18 families affected by a Downtown fire in April. Students raised $286 by paying $1 to participate in spirit days in which they came to school wearing pajamas, hats and crazy hair. Fifth-grader and council member Nika Thompson thought of the idea. "My mom and I thought of it because we have all these things. The money will help the people who lost their home in the fire to get the things they need," Thompson said.
