KETCHIKAN - Ketchikan galleries and businesses will host art exhibit openings and special events to welcome the new season during the 10th annual Sea Art Walk on Friday, May 7. The celebration will feature a whole night of family fun in honor of the sea.
Special events include sneak peeks at Dave Rubin's new bronze sculpture "The Rock" in progress and Stephen Jackson's new piling cap at the entrance to Thomas Basin.
The Arts Council's Main Street Gallery show for the month of May features the work of Carmel Anderson and Susan Christiansen. Working in different mediums, the two women have a shared aesthetic and a passion for giving visual voice to their experiences as women artists who are also wives, mothers, soul searchers, and community members in the contemporary world. An opening reception will be held from 5-7 p.m.on May 7, and the exhibit will be on display through May 28.
