Forest Service celebrates glacier center's 50th year

On May 5 Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center will host a celebration to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the center. In keeping with memories of the early visitor center's restaurant, pie will be served.

As part of the celebration, the Forest Service will debut its new glacier film in three showings starting at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium. Presentations begin at 6 p.m. This event is open to the public and no fee will be charged after 5:45 p.m.

Summer hours begin May 3 - 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. daily through Sept. 26. There is a $3 fee for everyone 16 and older.
