SEARHC hosts run/walk at Tlingít-Haida assembly
JUNEAU - The SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC) Health Promotion Department in Juneau, SEARHC Lifestyle Balance Program and the Tlingít-Haida Regional Housing Authority will host a three-mile fun run/walk during the 63rd Annual General Assembly of the Central Council of the Tlingít and Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska.

This event will start at 7:45 a.m. on April 19 in front of the Alaska Native Brotherhood Hall parking lot on Willoughby and event should be over by 8:45.

There will be light snacks and refreshments and the first 50 people to register on site will receive a pedometer. All participants will be entered into a drawing for prizes. This event is free and open to everyone. For more information contact Alan Travasso of SEARHC Health Promotion at 364-4458.

Women's sweat lodge

SITKA - The SEARHC WISEWOMAN program will host a women's community sweat lodge event from 6-9 p.m. April 18 at the New Breath Sweat Lodge located behind the SEARHC Community Health Services building.

The sweat lodge is a small, dark space heated by fired stones. Women will gather for three hours, but they can go in and out of the heat as needed. If possible, women should fast with only juice and water the day of. They should bring light foods for a post-sweat potluck after the event. Women should bring a water bottle, two towels, and a bathing suit or loose t-shirt and shorts to wear.
