Sitka Company awarded contract
SITKA - Southeast Earthmovers, Inc., a company based in Sitka, was awarded a $1.6 million contract on Monday to extend municipal sewer service to the West Mendanhall Valley industrial area, reported the Juneau Empire. The contract was awarded by the Juneau Assembly.

All properties within 200 feet of city sewer service must be connected and landowners will have to foot a portion of the expense. Landowners voted against the expansion last year when 90 percent of owners said they were against paying for the cost. Costs could be lowered by up to 60 percent, City Manager Rod Swope said.
