'Dads on Duty' raffle brings manpower to lucky winner

It won't be raining men -Ebut for one lucky winner in the Auke Bay Cooperative Preschool's annual raffle, it will probably feel like it for the lucky winner when six dads show up for six hours, available to do yardwork, hauling of heavy stuff, and other honey-dos and handiman duties.

"It's a really popular raffle," said raffle coordinator Angela Cunningham. "Word of mouth gets around, people call, and it's something that everybody wants to win."

The six dads won't do anything too dangerous - no taking down of trees - but previous years, they've been busy with painting, building fences, doing yardwork, cleaning out attics and storage rooms, and general spring cleaning.

"Last year, they were able to help the winner haul stuff out of her attic," said Cunningham.

Tickets are $10 a piece or three for $25, and available from any Auke Bay Coop family or by calling the preschool at 789-2302. The drawing will be Monday, April 25, at noon, and the daring dads will be available to the winner on May 7 or May 14.

The Auke Bay Cooperative Preschool has a capacity for 40 preschool students.
