The contest is open to Juneau area students in grades 6, 7 and 8, and runs through April 30.
Here are the rules:
~ All entries must include students name, age, address and phone number
~ Entries should be an original design which follows the owl theme of the project
~ Each entry needs to be submitted on 8.5"X11" white paper
~ Entries are due by April 30, 2005. They can be sent to Irene Morris, 24545 Glacier Highway, Juneau, AK 99801, or submitted to a particular school official (ask at the school!)
~ All entries will be judged by a panel. The winning entry will be used to represent the Owl Network and becomes the property of the SE Alaska Owl Network
~ The student with the winning design will receive a Grand Prize in addition to a t-shirt with the Owl Network Logo.
The Southeast Alaska Owl Network is a volunteer-based project combining the efforts of the USFWS, ADFG and the Juneau Raptor Center in conducting surveys to determine the abundance and distribution of forest owls in Southeast Alaska.
