Grant opportunities for prevention of child abuse

The Alaska Children's Trust announced two grant opportunities with awards of up to $50,000. The awards are being offered through The Alaska Community Foundation.

The intent of the grants is to provide services and programs that prevent child abuse and neglect to families, parents, caretakers and children.

The first, entitled Call to Action Grants, are available to those looking to start or continue community-based discussions to create the local prevention of child abuse. Proposals for up to $10,000 will be considered.

The second set of grants - called Program Support Grants - are available to those planning, developing, expanding and enhancing new or existing primary and secondary prevention programs. Programs that will develop the ability of communities to prevent child abuse and neglect will be considered. Proposals for capital and equipment purchases that are imperative to a prevention program's success will also be considered. Proposals can be for up to $50,000.

More information and an online application are available at www.alaskacf.org.
