Familiar to us all, silly for some and for others irresistible, the column tells one that Tuesday will be a rotten day! On an overpopulated planet where we must rub shoulders (and souls) with strangers, are the fortunes that come our way based on fate or the good choices we've made in life? How much of what happens to us is based on karma and how much is the result of the path we forge in this lifetime?

Astrology is the art of offering knowledge that can unite emotional and intuitive realms with the phenomena of physical manifestation in order to explain self-discovery and uncover our true potentials. It's the oldest art of all, coming back in our times, with the most advanced branches of science coming around to seeing the world as astrologers do.

Astrology originated in Babylon (modern Iraq) and that civilization's idea about the heavens influenced the surrounding developing cultures, including the Greeks, Arabs, Indians and Persians. Babylon had some fifty individual constellations, each with its own set of symbols and numerology. Unlike today, the ancients used the entire sky. The stars above reflected actual geographic areas within the empire and the surrounding empires. It seems the Babylonians knew that everything in the sky was connected - like a story with a beginning, middle and end.

Today, we're all familiar with the Zodiac, the twelve signs that make up the belt of stars around the ecliptic. The Sun Signs columns only scratch the surface of what's available in the natal horoscope, which is your cosmic I.D. The interpretation of your natal horoscope really helps to find out who you are as a unique individual. It helps you find what your talents are in order to use them for your fulfillment. It also shows you your weak parts so you can work on them to improve yourself.

But for all this you need desire, passion and true love. All this transforms the false beliefs of your consciousness and releases stress-reducing neurotransmitters into your system. The volume gets turned down in the limbic system where fear, anxiety, anger and other destructive emotions are controlled, giving you a clear mind. In order to go on you have to accept the fact that the physical universe is not the only place of being. There are invisible levels of non-physical matter through with the creative force is at work, like microbes and one-celled animals living in an invisible world long before the discovery of microscopes and x-rays. Cosmic rays were unknown until machines were built to measure them. So is astrology. If you want to find your way through the labyrinth of the cosmos, I recommend it. Astrology offers tools for self-discovery and peace of mind.

ARIES (March 21-April 20): Happy Birthday, Aries. The sun and two planets are spending time in your sign and your house of personality is in the mood for physical changes - do it. Lots of friendships include a new admirer but please don't forget the bills.

TAURUS (April 21-May 21): Planet Mercury, ruling short trips and communication, will join the sun in your sign. Be patient. Pay attention to two specific areas, secrets and love - a dangerous combination. Try to correct past mistakes.

GEMINI (May 22-June 21): Old and new friends will play a major part, for starters. Expect your social life to pick up, but you may have to deal with jealousy - handle it in your usual fashion. Avoid doing more than you can emphasize in income from business, letting people know your objectives.

CANCER (June 22-July 22): Need careful handling in issues of control, manipulation or abuse. You can learn from problems but a strong force from Mars/Saturn brings big demands, so no room for errors and restrictions to what you try to do; emphasis in career interests, a parent, maintaining self-confidence.

LEO (July 23-Aug 23): You'll feel strong and optimistic but Venus brings emotional overload from resentment, jealousy and possessiveness. You crave change, but avoid being irritable and impatient. If you're bored, someone new will cross your path.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 23): This is not an easy month for you. Small problems snowball into huge ones. Lots of tension. You need to stand up for yourself, create safe boundaries and be clear about what you want and what you'll accept. Emphasis on estate and tax matters or joint money concerns. Avoid being too possessive and secretive.

LIBRA (Sept. 24-Oct. 23): It is hard to fulfill unresolved passions. At this time home and family adds to frustration. Changing everyday habits will make changes hard. Work hard not to let jealousy come between you and your mate. The month is fiery, establish a tranquil atmosphere. An old health issue could demand attention.

SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 22): Passionate but with frustration in fulfillment. The power is in your words that transform your ideas in further goals. Revise an old project but don't sign anything yet. Associate with coworkers. Avoid criticizing and having too many irons in the fire. Know your limits and respect them.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 23-Dec. 21): Financial or emotional adjustments - have you made good investments? You need to be exact in word and deed. If you are single, the thermostat in your house of lovers is turning up. Investigate speculative matters. Certain obligations have to be fulfilled. You can still manage to have fun but don't overindulge.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 20): A forced agreement will likely change. A judgment phase will start about how well you've handled desires and goals. There's a new chance to talk things out for a domestic or partnership thread. Preserve harmony at all costs. Shop for home items. Travel could present problems. Don't interpret things too personally.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 21-Feb. 19): Negative relationship complications and repressed feelings provoke conflict. Avoid developing a fearful attitude. You may bulk under stringent limitations. But that will not stop the fun from interesting people you'll meet from good friends. Oops! A new one may monopolize your time. Money matters you'll manage. Enjoy cultural events.

PISCES (Feb 20-March 20): Some confrontations will be hard for you and intensify hard-to-handle passions. You want to talk about feelings but the negative resistance will put in hesitation. Emphasize your economic outlook, review your budget. Listen to others' concerns. Don't spend money.
