CCW wins Press Club Awards

JUNEAU - The Capital City Weekly received two awards from the Alaska Press Club, which were announced at a ceremony in Anchorage March 29. This was the first time the CCW submitted entries to the annual contest.

CCW Editor Katie Spielberger received first place in the "Short Features" category for small publications for the story "A Raven Named Blueberry." "I really enjoyed all of your entries, but picked this one because it was a nice mash up of fun, community, ecology and business," wrote judge Dana Coffield. "Nice light touch and good story selection."

Spielberger also won third place in the Profiles category for small publications for "The Real Santa Claus." "Lots of anecdotes, description and specifics; what could have been a sappy story sings," wrote judge Paula Span.
