JUNEAU - Alaska turned fifty on Jan. 3, the same day that Perseverance turned thirty. The latest Perseverance production, "8 Stars of Gold," is based on interviews with people living when statehood happened. The production will introduce audiences to them and their stories. This original play is built from interviews conducted by Ryan Conarro, Maia K. Nolan and Merry Ellefson with political, economic and cultural leaders from across the state - and with regular sourdoughs and cheechakos. 8 Stars introduces audiences to the fascinating characters - pioneering, charismatic, and eccentric - whose vision led to Alaska's unique admission to the union.
