It was a tremendous undertaking, a true community effort, involving months of preparations by a 36-member volunteer organizing committee, many volunteer hours contributed by the students' mentors, project judges and parents, and financial and in-kind support from sponsor businesses and organizations.
We sincerely thank and applaud our major sponsors, and the Science Fair wouldn't have been possible without the resources provided by many local sponsors.
We also would like to extend our gratitude to the sponsors of local awards presented to students March 18.
So many individuals contributed their time and expertise to make the fair a success. First and foremost, we thank each of the 116 volunteer mentors, and their organizations and companies, who were directly involved in counseling, assisting and cheering on the students through their projects. Special acknowledgment goes to the chief mentor, JDHS science teacher Jonathan Smith. The mentors' commitment of energy, expertise and time given to education and student achievement is incredible. Next, thanks to the more than 115 official fair judges and 30 special award judges who had the difficult task of analyzing and choosing projects for special recognition.
