WISEGUYS thank those who helped with benefit
Many groups and individuals worked together to make Saturday night's (March 17) "Healing Power of Humor" comedy showcase and fundraiser for Sitkans Against Family Violence a huge success. Our goal was to raise over $2,000 for SAFV and we were able to exceed that goal because our generous sponsors covered all the up-front costs. Big thanks to Old Harbor Books, The Monthly Grind, Totem Square Inn, Greater Sitka Arts Council, Neurobehavioral Consultants and the Sitka Peer Helpers. Also, thanks to all the merchants who allowed us to post fliers about the show, and to KCAW-Raven Radio, KIFW-AM/KSBZ-FM (The Rock), the Daily Sitka Sentinel and the Capital City Weekly for running PSAs to help us promote the show. You helped us sell out the Sheet'k? Kw?an Naa Kah?di.

Hats off to Finn Straley, Alina Ward, Myles Creed and Tiffany Creed, who did two wonderful opening acts. Thanks to the Sitka Youth First Responders, who carried out an unconventional taping and un-taping assignment with precision and skill. And a huge thank you goes to "The Leprechaun Crew," made up of Sitka, Pacific and Mt. Edgecumbe high school students, who made big contributions before and during the St. Patty's Day event.

In addition to the show, we had a very fun Youth and Adult Comedy Workshop led by our special guest comedian, Kermet Apio. Thanks to Sitka Community Schools, Rick Peterson, Julia Smith, Ryan Kauffman, workshop organizer Emily Buck and all the folks who signed up and participated. We have some great talent in this town!

Finally we'd like to thank Kermet - who was hilarious - and everyone who showed up last Saturday, supported SAFV and were a part in this fun-filled, non-alcoholic community event.

Thank you and Gunalcheesh,

SEARHC's WISEGUYS
