JUNEAU - Outgoing Juneau School District Superintendent Peggy Cowan shared thoughts last week about her status as a finalist to be a schools superintendent in Petersburg.
She said the small district - Petersburg has about 500 students, while Juneau's has about 5,000 - would give her more opportunities for involvement with students. She reiterated an interest in new challenges and a role with a greater emphasis on instruction. She announced in January that she would leave her post in Juneau when her contract expires June 30.
Cowan said she applied to other positions as well, but has been named publicly as a finalist in only Petersburg so far.
