Minerals of Southeastern Alaska, Saturday, March 26, 1:00-3:00 pm, Juneu-Douglas City Museum. Taught by Chris DeWitt, supervisor of the Juneau-John Rishel Mineral Information Center, students will learn what minerals are and how
local minerals are used. Students will also learn the history surrounding the names and physical properties of minerals while finding out how geologist use this information to identify rocks in the field. Students will have the opportunity to identify a set of ten minerals all found right here in Southeastern Alaska and will receive their own set to take home. Baby Sitting Course American Red Cross of Alaska, March 22-24, 1-4pm. Will give 11-15-year-olds the information & skills necessary to provide safe and responsible care of infants and children in the absence of adult supervision.
