Women in Business: Donna D. Leamer
Making their own way

Name: Donna D. Leamer

Business Name: Alaska Coach Tours

How long have you been in business?

I have worked in the tourism industry for 15 years. My first experience in tourism was as an educator at the New Jersey State Aquarium, where I was responsible for giving audience presentations for up to 300 guests at a time. In college I secured an internship in Denali National Park as a park ranger, living 66 miles inside the park at Eilson Visitor Center. Finally I ended up in Juneau and have worked for Glacier Bay Tours & Cruises, Allen Marine Tours, the Alaska Division of Tourism, Era Helicopters and am currently the Manager of Tour Quality & Customer Satisfaction for Alaska Coach Tours.

What is your business?

Alaska Coach Tours is a brand new motorcoach company based in Juneau. We will be offering tour and transportation services to Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruiselines in Juneau, Ketchikan and Skagway.

Why did you go into business?

I would have never guessed I'd have a career in tourism. It is one industry you either love or hate. Luckily I have loved every job I've held in tourism. The fast pace, traveling the globe, meeting new people and sharing our beautiful state with visitors from around the world.
