This year's theme was Celebrating the Multi-Cultural Lives of Young Children and was attended by parents, child care, preschool, school district and head start teachers from throughout the region as well as representatives from agencies that support young children and families.
In addition to an array of guest presenters and keynote speakers Brett Dillingham and Father Michael Oleksa, the conference hosted an awards ceremony to honor AEYC-SEA Early Childhood Educator and Advocates.
The persons honored were nominated by NAEYC members from their communities who recognize and appreciate the dedication the recipients have for the young children and families in their communities.
This years honorees are Lolly Miller of Sitka's Sheldon Jackson Preschool, Gina and Brad Palmer of Ketchikan's Palmer Family Child Care, Peggy Floro of Sitka's Eagle's Nest, Kim Phillips of Wrangell's Chilkat Valley Preschool, Sharlyn Berning of Juneau Montessori and the Juneau Family Health and Birth Center, and Patty Winegar of Juneau's Harborview school.
