SITKA - The SEARHC Women's Health Program has announced the Spring 2009 schedule for the mobile mammogram program.
The van is scheduled to visit Angoon on April 20-23, Kake on April 29-May 2, Haines on May 7-19, Yakutat on May 27-June 1, and Skagway on June 9-12.
The mobile mammography program is run through a partnership between Bartlett Regional Hospital and the SEARHC Women's Health Program. It makes regular mammography services available to women who live in communities where they aren't available year round.
"Each year, the mobile mammography unit provides mammograms for more than 700 women who might not otherwise receive this service," said Roz DeRensis, SEARHC Women's Health Care Manager. "Regular mammograms are an important part of being a healthy woman."
The SEARHC Women's Health Program provides free clinical breast exams, mammograms, Pap tests and cardiovascular screenings for all women ages 40-64 who meet income and insurance guidelines.
