Film fest focuses on world's coasts
KTOO and the Juneau Underground Motion Picture Society bring the Alaska Ocean Film Festival to Juneau on Friday, March 10, and Saturday March 11.

The festival will be at the Backroom at the Silverbow at 7 p.m. each night. Space is limited and free tickets are available at KTOO and Lucid Reverie.

The Alaska Ocean Film Festival takes viewers from Croatia to Kodiak and many warm places in between.

Doing for the world's oceans what Telluride and Banff are doing for mountain cultures, the series of short films focuses on saltwater adventure, marine science and coastal cultures.

The films are being shown in various cities across Alaska, brought to the state by the Alaska Center for the Environment and Alaska Oceans Program.

The festival's viewing in Juneau is sponsored by a grant from KQED and the Ocean Futures Society to bring the festival to Juneau.
