Variety Shows

Are you savvy with a saxophone? A paralegal partial to pirouettes? A kid with a knack for Kerouac? The Juneau Grind, a monthly open-mic variety show. Each performer or group gets up to five minutes to showcase their talents, whatever they may be.

With the all ages Family Grind at 7 p.m. and the anything goes Bump-n-Grind at 10 p.m., there's an audience for anything that you may come up with. Shows will take place at the VFW Hall, located at First and Gold Street (the red building behind the Baranof), on the first Friday of each month.

Sign up at the door or reserve a spot in the lineup by sending an e-mail to or calling John Leo at 957-2776.

St. Patrick's Day Party

The Douglas Public Library will feature stories and music in honor of St. Patrick's Day from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 16.
