Dr. Liz Coner will present, This Striking Ornament of Nature: The Native Belle in the Colonial Scene, at 7 p.m. March 8 in the UAS Egan Lecture Hall. Dr. Conor is the UAS featured lecturer at UAS for the International Day of Women. Dr. Conor's lecture will elaborate on the research she began with her book, The Spectacular Modern Woman: Feminine Visibility in the 1920s, to frame it in colonial context.

Her presentation explores the Western fascination with Aboriginal women as objects of desire and the mass media's attempt to make them conform to modern ideals of feminine beauty.
