Special election set for April 3
Lieutenant Governor Sean Parnell and the Division of Elections Director Whitney Brewster remind Alaskans that the deadline to register to vote or to update their registration for the April 3, 2007 Special Election is Sunday, March 4, 2007.

Registration forms are available at any elections or municipal clerk's office, the Division of Motor Vehicles and any local library that offers registration. Registration applications are also available online at the Division of Elections' website at: www.elections.state.ak.us.

The Division of Elections' offices will not be open on Sunday, March 4, 2007; however, voters may fax their registration applications to any Division of Elections office or may mail and postmark registration applications no later than Sunday, March 4, 2007.

When registering to vote, remember to provide one form of identification such as a driver's license, birth certificate, passport, state identification card, or hunting or fishing license.

Alaskans will be voting on the following question at the April 3 Special Election:

Shall the legislature adopt a proposed amendment to the state constitution to be considered by the voters at the 2008 general election that would prohibit the state, or a municipality or other subdivision of the state, from providing employment benefits to same-sex partners of public employees and to same-sex partners of public employee retirees?
