The committee, established by the Forest Service, is intended to provide advice as the U.S. Forest Service drafts plans for mining and logging in the Tongass. The advisory committee will consist of 15 members selected by the Secretary of Agriculture for their knowledge of Southeast issues and to provide balanced representation of tribes, environmental organizations, timber groups, government groups and other commercial users.
Most of the committee's work will take place between May and December, with meetings as frequently as each month, possibly for several days each time.
Applications are due by March 7. For an application form and details on how to apply, visit https://federalregister.gov/a/2014-00326.
