Wildlife in Southeast Alaska was out-and-about last weekend, apparently aware that Spring is just around the corner.

An orca, sometimes referred to as the "sea wolf" surfaces for air just off the eastern coast of Shelter Island near Halibut Cove. More will likely be seen in the coming weeks as more marine prey becomes readily available.

A bald eagle perches on a bird feeder near Auke Bay, showing that figuratively, and physically, it's at the top of the pecking order - and food chain.
